November 18

Sunday was a great blessing! We share in the joy of heaven as we celebrate the baptism of Ruth Kalaman and Caroline Gardner. Ruth and her daughter Jasmine have been attending here at South Fork for the last several months and have been participating in our Shepherd Groups and other church activities. What a joy it has been to get to know them and have them as part of our church family! Caroline is the daughter of former members Steve and Tracey Gardner and Ben’s little sister and we share in the joy of her baptism with Caroline and her family. In addition, Tracy Bradshaw and Craig Dunbar each sought the prayers of the congregation. I think everyone present was moved to a greater commitment and devotion to the Lord from being a part of our worship assemblies this past Lord’s Day.
Our Commitment Sunday is here! Sunday has been designated by our elders as Commitment Sunday. While each of us is to commit his/her entire life to Christ as Lord, our shepherds are challenging us to commit in 2013 to specifically:

• pray for our congregation without ceasing;
• use our time and talents to serve others;
• deepen our relationships with one another;
• give financially.

Our elders and ministry leaders desire to be good stewards of the money that is given here at South Fork. It has been difficult to set a realistic budget, evidenced by the fact that we are currently just over $30,000 behind this year. Planning (or purposing) your giving is a Biblical concept (2 Corinthians 9:7) and would prove very helpful to our elders and ministry leaders as we look to 2013 and the great opportunities God has given us in His service.
Our shepherds are asking that on Commitment Sunday we share with them what we have purposed for 2013 so that we can all be better stewards of the great blessings and opportunities our Lord has placed in our hands. Some important things you need to know about this process are: the giving part of the commitment cards will be kept completely confidential, only one elder will see them; your giving will not be tracked during the year; and it will be understood if life circumstances change and you are unable to give the amount you planned.
Below is some of the Biblical foundation that has been shared during this process. Please review these Scriptures and prayerfully turn in a commitment card this Sunday or as soon as possible.
Psalm 24:1; Proverbs 3:9-10; 22:9
Mark 12:17, 41-44; Luke 12:13-34; Acts 2:42-47, 4:32-37
Romans 12:1-8; 1 Corinthians 12-13; 2 Corinthians 8-9; Ephesians 2:10; 4:11-16; 1 Peter 4:10
